Mehteran started playing with Osman Gazi in 1299.

They were dissolved in 1826 and reunited in 1911. They were organized in 1914 and took the name Mehterhane-i Hakani .

They witnessed the First World War and the Wars of Independence.

Beethoven and many western musicians were influenced by Mehter and composed many compositions. And the Mehteran, also known as the Military Music Organization, played for centuries and they still continue to play with the same enthusiasm.
